The goal of Simpleng Luto is to share the simple recipe that is prepared and cooked in the simplest way. A simple cooking for a simplest Filipino taste, lutong-pinoy lasang-pinoy. Simpleng Luto is more on Lutong Bahay recipes or cooked mostly by simple Filipino family on day-to-day living.

Scrambled Eggs In Tomato with cheese

One of the fast meal to prepare every morning is scrambled eggs but we can add more to it without affecting the preparation time. With tomatoes, and cheese you’ll surely love the great twist of the dish. And egg nowadays is very common in our kitchen for it is cheap and healthy to consume. This is one of the primary food considered mostly by Juan Dela Cruz and we cannot afford to lose this in our breakfast table every morning. A one Simpleng Luto that we can add to our recipe book.


Ingredients:

  • 3 Eggs, beaten
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp grated cheese
  • salt and pepper

Procedure:
1. In a small bowl prepare or whisk the eggs together.
2. Melt butter in a pan over a low heat.
3. Saute garlic, onion, tomato and wait until tomato is soft and smashed it.
4. Pour in the eggs, and wait until it was ready for flipping.
5. Sprinkle cheese on top and flip or fold it in the pan (Do not over cook)
6. Transfer the eggs in the plate while still moist.
7. Add salt or pepper according to your taste but also good without it.

Serve and enjoy!

Pork Menudo with Cheese

In most occasions we mostly seen this in the table because of the yummy taste for a heavy meal and good for pulutan too. I was also a big fan of this recipe even if I ate it over and over again specially with a liver kick on the taste this made me a lot to get more even without a rice.However, there are people don’t want to include liver on the dish because of its gamy taste. But there is a technique how to get rid of the gamy taste making it more pleasurable to eat (In the procedure You'll know how it goes). What I learn is, you can make the dish more delicious by adding cheese to it and for sure kids will love it too.


Ingredients
  • ½ kg. pork, cubed
  • pig’s liver, cubed
  • hotdogs, sliced diagonally
  • 2 medium potatoes, cubed
  • 1 enough sized carrots, cubed
  • 2 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 canned green peas
  • 3 pieces bay leaves
  • 15 oz. tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Raisins, but optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese for toppings
Cooking Procedure
1. Heat the cooking oil in a wide cooking pot.
2. Saute the hotdogs for a minute. Set aside hotdogs in a plate and leave remaining cooking oil.
(do this procedure if you have added liver if not jump to number 6)
3. On the same pot, add the ginger and saute for a minute.
4. Put the liver in and continue to saute for 2 minutes.
5. Transfer to a plate and leave the remaining cooking oil again and set the liver to the side.

6. Now, saute the onion and garlic in enough cooking oil until becomes soft.
7. Add the pork and continue to cook until light brown.
8. Add the raisins (if there is), pour the tomato sauce and bring to a boil.
9. Add the dried bay leaves and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes or until the pork becomes tender.
10. Put-in the sauteed liver (if there is) and hotdog. Stir.
11. Add the carrots and potatoes and cover, cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
12. Put green peas.
13. Add salt and pepper to taste.
14. Add grated cheese as a toppings

Corn-Si-Log (Corned Beef, Sinangag, Itlog)

For me nothing beat this tag-team heavy meal for a breakfast. Yes, there is a lot too but like what I said this is the best for myself. A great combination that will give you energy even for a whole day specially when you have a hot chocolate for a drink. Everybody knows how to cook this but for those who do not know how to prepare this meal I suggest to stay on this page and follow everything.

What We Need:
Corned Beef
2 Eggs (1 for corned beef mix + 1 for sunny-side up)
Rice (best if you have left-over rice)
Garlic (get enough for sauteing and for fried rice)
Onion (medium size)
Seasoning Granules
Oil or Butter
Carrot and peas (optional)

Preparation:

Corned Beef With Egg Mixed:
  • Put small amount of oil or butter on a pan and let heat for a seconds.
  • Saute garlic and onion and add corned beef.
  • In the can of corned beef put small amount of water and mix it to the corned beef and cook for a while.
  • Now, pour egg into the pan and mix it well. (Do not over cook because it will look dry if you do so but it is okay it will not affect the taste.)
  • Let cooked and serve.

Fried Rice:
  • Saute garlic in a small amount of oil or butter.
  • Pour smashed rice or left-over rice and mix well.
  • You can add chopped carrot and peas if you like but optional.
  • Add seasoning granule to taste
  • Let cooked and serve

Sunny-Side Up
  • Break egg and slowly put it in a heated oil with a small amount of fire. You can use fried egg mould if you have some difficulties on the pan.
  • Sprinkle seasoning granule to taste and serve.


Now enjoy the best breakfast meal you cooked.

Deep Fry Whole Chicken

For sure we've love to eat fried chicken more than anything else especially if it is juicy and tasty. Most of the chicken I tasted is simply coated with a breading or bread crumbs to make it delicious or tasty. But how about a simple fried chicken without this crumbs? Well I think some of us know how to do it. Here is my Simpleng Luto way of cooking.


What We Need/Ingredients:
1 whole or a half dressed chicken
1 large onion 
2 chicken cubes
black pepper
leeks chopped (optional)
salt to taste

Before deep frying the whole chicken boil chicken with the seasonings.

Place chicken in a large pot together with the onion, leeks, black pepper, chicken cubes, and salt depend on your taste; add water to cover. Cover pot and bring to a boil; reduce heat to a gentle boil and cook for about 90 minutes, or until chicken meat is soften.

Remove chicken and drain.

Now, deep fry chicken until golden.
Serve and enjoy!
